Carter Hart has joined the Vegas Golden Knights on a professional tryout contract, the team announced Thursday. The goaltender previously played for the Philadelphia Flyers during the 2023-24 season, finishing with a record of 12-9-3, a 2.80 goals-against average, a .906 save percentage, and one shutout over 26 games. After being granted a leave of absence from the Flyers on January 23, Hart expressed excitement about returning to the ice.
Reflecting on his journey, Hart shared, “It’s been a long road to get back to this point… I’m just excited to move forward.” He expressed enthusiasm about joining the Golden Knights and the positive reputation of the city, community, and organization. Hart emphasized his desire to showcase his true character and dedication.
The NHL noted that Hart, along with forwards Dillon Dube, Michael McLeod, and Alex Formenton, along with defenseman Cal Foote, could sign NHL contracts no sooner than October 15 and become eligible to play by December 1. Meanwhile, Hart continues to prepare for game scenarios.
The Golden Knights, under the guidance of coach Bruce Cassidy, recognize Hart’s need for practice to regain his rhythm. Cassidy noted, “He hasn’t played in a while; he needs to work,” but is optimistic about Hart’s integration into the team. Hart’s overall statistics include a career record of 96-93-29 in regular-season games and a notable playoff performance with a 2.23 GAA and .926 save percentage.
